Antioxidants are things that help us fight back against all the toxins around us, from pollution, in the water supply and in our soil. We make some naturally in our bodies, but we need as many as we can get from our food too.
Here’s a list of 10 of the best ones.
Sweet Potatoes: they are a great source of carotenoids, which has Vitamin A.
Mangoes: give us a day’s worth of Vitamin C
Broccoli: High in Vit. C, plus carotenids, Vit. K and folic acid
Garbanzo beans: rich in protein and fiber
Watermelon: High in Vit. A, C and has potassium and lycopene too.
Butternut Squash: Lots of Vit. A, C and fiber
Kale: High in Vit. A, C and K, a real powerhouse food
Collard greens: much like kale, and all of these greens have folate, minerals and iron in them
Spinach: a nutrition standout with all the great things in kale and collard greens too
Swiss chard: Like the other greens, it has potassium, magnesium, calcium, iron lutein and fiber.
