Now I know that you wake up sometimes in the morning and you just feel kind of blank and youÂ’re low in energy and you donÂ’t know what to do. And the last thing you feel like doing is exercise.

Well, I have been through that many times myself and I found a little technique to bust my excuses.

And that is, I take my exercise shoes and I either put them right in front of the bathroom or I put them right in front of my closet wherever IÂ’m going to go to get my clothes.

Now I practically have to trip over those shoes and it is a reminder “get out the door and do your exercise.”

And if I’m not going to get out the door because it’s lousy weather and I’m going to do it inside on the floor of my living room with my exercise ball or my exercise band, I’d say to myself, “Okay, there are my shoes waiting for me.”

And sometimes I even put my socks right on top of the shoes. So I really have to go through moving two things in order to bust my excuse.

But thatÂ’s what I do and it really works. You sit down on the floor, you put on one sock, you put on the shoe; you put on the other sock, you put on the other shoe.

And itÂ’s amazing how your excuse for not doing anything has disappeared by the time you get through that little ritual.

The shoes are a symbol of movement.

Movement is a cue to your brain.

If you do this over and over and over at least three weeks in a row, every time you see those shoes youÂ’re going to know that thatÂ’s your signal to move your body.

And I want to encourage you to do that.

All you need is a decent pair of walking or running shoes. You donÂ’t have to walk or run in them. You can be on your floor doing a few push ups or sit ups or whatever you want to do; pull ups with your exercise band.

You can do a lot of different kinds of things to move your body. But those shoes need to be tied to your brain signal that says “get moving”. No excuses. Just take that moment. You deserve it.
